With Tap to Pay on a phone, contactless payments can be accepted in person, from physical debit and credit cards to Apple Pay and other digital wallets—no extra hardware is needed. This feature does require syncing with the Apple ID on the device so we strongly recommend only doing this on company/organization iPhones with a company email as the Apple ID.
What are the device requirements for integrating Tap to Pay?
Tap to Pay on iPhone requires iOS mobile devices that meet the following criteria:
- Running iOS 16.0 or later (US), running iOS 16.4 or later (AU, UK), running iOS 17.0 or later (FR, NL)
- iPhone XS or later
- Is not jailbroken and the device bootloader is locked and unchanged.
Note: iPads do not have Tap to Pay reading capabilities, so are not supported at this time.

How to Set Up Your Device

In your Brushfire App, swipe right to get to Settings, and choose Configure Payment Hardware at the bottom. It will then prompt you to select your Brushfire Account, then to select your Payment Gateway which must have Tap to Pay enabled, and then a one-time message will prompt you asking if you want to Enable Tap to Pay. Then, you will get to choose your Payment Hardware. On this screen, you will select Tap to Pay.
- You will then be prompted to set a Location if you have multiple Stripe locations. Then, it will show you Tap to Pay has connected. Next, it will prompt you to link it to your Apple ID and let you know when that is completed.
- Then, it will prompt a tutorial on how to use Tap to Pay on the phone.
- Once setup is complete, you will be prompted to select your event. If you look in the top left corner of your screen, you will see an indicator that Tap to Pay is connected with a check mark.

How to Use at CheckOut
Once you take someone through the purchasing process, Card will be the selected payment method on the Check Out screen, and from there, hit Place Order. You will then see the Tap to Pay icon with the instructions, “Hold Here to Pay.”
A green check mark and a message confirming the purchase is complete will display after a successful transaction.
