Event Lists
All your events display as thumbnail images in a grid instead of a text-only list. It will list all events active in your dashboard. To control which events display, read further on to learn how to assign a URL Key to the events you want to group together. You can add event thumbnail images in your Event Configuration under the Tracking Tab at Event Thumbnail, or Brushfire will supply a default image based on your event category. Attendees will find a search bar and a place to set a date range to look for specific events. The results will populate in the new thumbnail layout mentioned above.
Please note that the event Thumbnail is the same image that is set as the Social Sharing image in the Tracking section of your Event configuration. Thumbnail size - 1200px wide by 630px tall @ 72dpi.
Map View
To display a map of your events on this page, you can direct attendees to this URL with the highlighted text being required: https://brushfire.com/demo?view=map.
Calendar View
Calendar View offers a more date-focused option, as shown below. Once a date is selected, the event(s) will be displayed accordingly. For this option, add /calendar to the URL or URL Key (discussed in section below) to look like this: https://brushfire.com/demo/calendar
URL Key
What's a URL Key? To control which events to display, a URL Key makes only those events with the key display together. When you have multiple related events, like camps, that you want to group and promote via a similar URL structure, you would use the same URL Key.
To edit or update your URL Key, follow these steps:
1. Select "Main Details" from the Manage Page.
2. Type the preferred name of the URL.
3. You can also get to the "Main Details" page from your Dashboard.
4. Don't forget to save!
Note: All events that share the same URL Key will be displayed together at that URL Key. If the events share the same theme, the common theme will be used for the URL Key Event Listing. If events do not share a common theme, the event listing page will default to the default organization branding. The organization theme can be updated in your Organization Dashboard.
The thumbnails (specifications listed here) displayed on event listing pages can be selected for each event on the event's Tracking Edit Tab after being uploaded to your Media Libary.
Limitations to Know
- All active events display by default. If you haven't assigned a URL Key to your events, your event listing page will show every active event in your dashboard. Use URL Keys to control which events appear together.
- Thumbnail and Social Sharing image are the same file. Whatever image you set as your event thumbnail will also be used when your event URL is shared on social media. There is no way to set a separate image for each use — plan your artwork accordingly.
- If no thumbnail is set, a default stock image is used. This default will appear on your event listing page and in social shares. Always set a custom thumbnail to keep your branding consistent.
- Shared URL Keys share a theme. If events grouped under the same URL Key don't share a common theme, the listing page will fall back to your default organization branding — not the individual event themes. Make sure your grouped events share a theme if consistent branding on the listing page matters to you.
- URL Keys affect all events assigned to them. Adding a URL Key to an event will cause it to appear alongside every other event using that same key. Double-check your key before saving to make sure you're grouping the right events together.
-
Map View requires a specific URL parameter. The map view isn't a default option — attendees need to be directed to the URL with
?view=mapappended. It won't appear automatically.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I stop a specific event from showing up on my event listing page? A: The listing page displays all active events in your dashboard. To exclude an event remove it from the active state, or use a URL Key so that only events with that specific key are shown at that URL.
Q: Can I have more than one URL Key grouping? A: Yes. You can create as many URL Key groupings as you need. Each unique URL Key generates its own listing page showing only the events assigned to that key. This is useful if you run multiple series or event types that shouldn't be grouped together.
Q: What happens to the listing page branding if my grouped events have different themes? A: If the events under a URL Key don't share a common theme, the listing page will default to your organization's branding. To ensure consistent branding on the listing page, make sure all events in the group share the same theme.
Q: Can attendees search for events on the listing page? A: Yes. The event listing page includes a search bar and a date range filter so attendees can find specific events. Results display in the thumbnail grid layout.
Q: Is the Calendar View available for all event listings? A: Yes — you can add /calendar to any event listing URL or URL Key URL to switch to the calendar view. This gives attendees a date-focused way to browse your events.
Q: Where do I set my event thumbnail? A: In your event's Tracking Edit Tab. You'll need to upload your image to your Media Library first, then select it from there. The thumbnail must be 1200px wide by 630px tall @ 72dpi.
