Building a Safe and Trusted Event Community

At Brushfire, we're committed to helping event organizers around the world create meaningful connections through exceptional software and service. Our diverse network of customers, partners, attendees, and users relies on our platform to experience events safely and securely.

These Community Guidelines ensure that everyone using Brushfire does so with respect for personal privacy, safety, and legal compliance. They work alongside our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Billing Terms, and Data Security & Privacy policies to maintain industry-standard practices across our platform.

These Community Guidelines are incorporated into our Terms of Use. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to remove or restrict access to any content or events that violate these guidelines or our Terms of Use.

Scope of Application

These Community Guidelines apply to all content and activities on the Brushfire platform, including but not limited to:

  • Event listings and descriptions
  • Images, videos, and multimedia content
  • Event communications and messaging
  • Activities occurring at events ticketed through Brushfire
  • User interactions within the platform

In certain contexts, including academic, educational, or journalistic purposes, content that might otherwise violate these guidelines may be permitted at our sole discretion, provided the context and intent are clear and appropriate.

Prohibited Content and Activities

The following content and activities are prohibited on the Brushfire platform:

Bullying and Harassment

We prohibit content or behavior that:

  • Engages in online bullying, shaming, harassment, or abusive treatment of others
  • Makes threatening statements or calls for violence against any person or group
  • Promotes, encourages, or provides instructions for self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders
  • Involves stalking or other forms of harassment

Child Safety and Endangerment

We strictly prohibit:

  • Any content that depicts, promotes, or facilitates child sexual abuse or exploitation
  • Content that puts children at risk of harm, abuse, or inappropriate contact
  • Events inappropriate for minors without proper age restrictions and safeguards
  • Collection of personal data from children under the legal age of majority without proper parental consent

Note: Any instances of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) will be immediately reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant authorities as required by law. A single violation may result in immediate account suspension.

Fraud and Misrepresentation

We prohibit:

  • Creating fake events or selling tickets to non-existent events
  • Using stolen credentials or unauthorized access to accounts
  • Phishing attempts or scams designed to steal personal or financial information
  • Misrepresenting yourself, your organization, or your event
  • Impersonating any person, entity, or government official
  • Making false claims about Brushfire endorsement without written authorization

Hate Speech and Discrimination

We prohibit content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against individuals or groups based on:

  • Race, ethnicity, or national origin
  • Religion or religious beliefs
  • Gender identity or sexual orientation
  • Disability status
  • Age or veteran status
  • Immigration status

This includes but is not limited to dehumanizing comparisons, harmful stereotypes, supremacist ideologies, and targeted harassment based on protected characteristics.

Illegal Content and Activities

We prohibit events and content involving:

  • Illegal drug use, manufacture, distribution, or sale
  • Pyramid schemes or fraudulent business practices
  • Any activity that violates applicable local, state, federal, or international laws
  • Unauthorized gambling, unlicensed raffles, or illegal gaming activities

Spam and Misleading Content

We prohibit:

  • Unsolicited promotional content unrelated to legitimate events
  • Misleading URLs or deceptive linking practices
  • Search engine manipulation tactics or keyword stuffing
  • Content repeatedly listed to manipulate search rankings
  • Communications sent to users who have not opted in or have opted out

Violence and Physical Harm

We prohibit content that:

  • Promotes, encourages, or provides instructions for violence or physical harm
  • Glorifies violent acts or dangerous activities
  • Lacks proper safety protocols for potentially dangerous events
  • Promotes the consumption of illegal substances or misuse of legal substances
  • Encourages risky behaviors that could result in injury

Weapons, Controlled Substances, and Dangerous Items

We prohibit events involving:

  • Sale, distribution, or giveaway of illegal or prohibited firearms, ammunition, or weapons
  • Sale or distribution of illegal drugs or controlled substances
  • Raffles or auctions for prohibited items
  • Events promoting illegal substance use or weapons training

Adult Content and Sexual Services

We prohibit:

  • Pornographic content or explicit sexual material
  • Events promoting sexual services, escort services, or sexual solicitation
  • Content depicting non-consensual intimate imagery
  • Events primarily focused on adult sexual activities without appropriate age restrictions and content warnings

Privacy Violations and Data Misuse

We prohibit:

  • Unauthorized collection or sharing of personal information
  • Using Brushfire to collect sensitive financial information unnecessarily
  • Sharing login credentials among team members (use our roles and permissions features instead)
  • Violating attendee privacy or data protection rights

Platform Interference and Security Violations

We prohibit:

  • Attempts to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to Brushfire services
  • Uploading viruses, malware, or other harmful software
  • Interfering with the security or integrity of our platform
  • Circumventing platform safety measures or restrictions

Intellectual Property Violations

We prohibit:

  • Using copyrighted material without proper authorization
  • Trademark infringement or unauthorized use of protected logos/branding
  • Plagiarism or unauthorized reproduction of creative content

Enforcement and Reporting

How We Enforce These Guidelines

Brushfire reserves the right to:

  • Remove or restrict access to violating content
  • Suspend or terminate user accounts
  • Refuse service to users who violate these guidelines
  • Report illegal activities to appropriate authorities
  • Take any other action deemed necessary to maintain platform safety and integrity

How to Report Violations

If you encounter content or events that violate these Community Guidelines:

  1. For violating events: Contact us at abuse@brushfire.com
  2. For other violations: Contact our support team immediately
  3. For urgent safety concerns: Contact local authorities first, then notify Brushfire

When reporting violations, please provide:

  • Specific details about the violation
  • Links to the problematic content or event
  • Any relevant screenshots or documentation
  • Your contact information for follow-up if needed

Academic and Educational Exceptions

In limited circumstances, content that might otherwise violate these guidelines may be permitted for legitimate academic, educational, or journalistic purposes. Such exceptions are granted at Brushfire's sole discretion and must:

  • Have clear educational or academic value
  • Include appropriate context and disclaimers
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations
  • Not pose a risk to platform users or the broader community

Updates and Modifications

Brushfire may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. When we make significant changes:

  • We will notify users through our platform or email
  • The updated guidelines will be posted at brushfire.com/legal
  • Continued use of our platform constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines
