How to Change an Attendee's Ticket or Registration Type
If your event has multiple active ticket/registration types, you can switch an attendee to a different ticket/registration type.
- Go to the event's Manage page.
- Click Manage to view the full list of attendees for the event.
- Find the attendee whose registration you would like to change.
- Current attendees will have a blue Manage button on the left.
- Cancelled attendees will have a gray button and a line through their name.
- Changes can only be made to current attendees.
Click the blue Manage button next to the attendee, then select Change Registration Type or Change Ticket Type from the menu.
- A window will appear showing the available ticket or registration types for that attendee.
- The attendee's current type will be marked as selected with a grayed-out button.
- Available options will have a green Continue button.
- Click the green Continue button next to the ticket or registration type you would like to select.
If the New Type Is the Same Price
If the new ticket or registration type costs the same amount as the attendee has already paid, the registration will be updated immediately — no additional payment or refund steps required.
If the Price Is Different
If changing the registration type results in a price difference, you will be presented with options for the updated order. The billing address and contact information will be pre-filled from the original order — update these if needed.
If you do not want to send the attendee an email confirmation of the change, uncheck Send email confirmation of this change below the customer's email address.
If a Refund Is Due
If the original order was paid by credit card and you are changing the attendee to a lower-priced type, you can issue the refund back to the original payment method. Under Payment Details, select Link to Previous Transaction, then process the refund.
If an Additional Charge Is Due
If you are changing the attendee to a higher-priced type, you will need to select a payment method for the additional amount. Available payment methods may include credit card, cash, check, or any other payment methods enabled for the event.
Note: If charging a credit card, you will need the customer's card information available. Brushfire does not store card information from previous transactions.
Add Internal Notes
To document the reason for the change or leave information for another admin, you can add notes to the order. These notes are only visible to admin users and will not be shown to the attendee.
Complete the Change
- If a refund is being issued, click the red Refund button.
- If an additional payment is being collected, click the green New Charge button.
Once the transaction is processed, Brushfire will display a green confirmation message letting you know the ticket or registration type was changed successfully. The attendee's record will then be updated to reflect the new type.
